DENNIS MADALONE INTERVIEW FROM BIGGER THAN JESUS #1

this interview is from a zine i did called BIGGER THAN JESUS. All grammar and spelling has been left untouched.

Its a fucked up, post 9/11 world we live in and Dennis Madalone is here to help us all get through the grief of loss. If you are unfamiliar with this brilliant man, check out his website at www.americawestandasone.com and make sure to watch the video before reading any further. Murphy's Law said it first, America rules, and Dennis (along with his wife Linda) are here almost 20 years later still reminding us of the importance of patriotism. Big thanks to Dennis and Linda for doing the interview (and the sweet shirt)

You have touched a lot of people with your song and video, which is an indirect refrence to 9/11, are there any plans for a follow up (song/video) for Hurricane Katrina?

I will hope that America We Stand As One will also comfort those whose suffered by Katrina. Because it's all bout our Loved-Ones that passed away... and coming together at such difficult times.

Your inspiration for the song is obvious, what made you want to release it on such a grand scale, how long did it take for it all to come together, and how has your life changed since?

During the Day of Prayers the Song was created with my Four-Legged Kid, Puppy, Honey, Honey by my side. Linda and my other Four-Legged's came running into the room and we knew at that moment that this was a message form our Loved-Ones that passed away and Everyone in the world needed to hear their words...I was just the "instrument" to make this Song a reality. It took four years to come together and the process was a beautiful journey. My life has been changed in such a positive way. So many wonderful People have told me that the "Song" has given them Hope, Faith, and an Understanding about Our Loved-Ones who pass. Whether they relate to their Grandparents, or one of GODS other Creates such as a "Turtle," who in one Girl's life was the world to Her. It has been made clearer to me that because "Love" is so strong that when We experience a loss,-then it's a precess that We all go through and America We Stand As One, unites our "spirits" and helps our healing-- confirming that we are not alone, "they are still with Us but in a different way." . Knowing that the Song has helped so many People is enriching to my life.

How long ago and how did you come about starting to write music, and what is coming up next for Dennis Madalone?

I've been writing music and playing guitar since I was a Teen. When "America We Stand As One," has traveled around the world and back then I will come out with another Song....

Growing up in South Plainfield, NJ you set the high school pole vaulting record at 13 feet. Was this an early sign of your determination and work ethic that would also lead you to set the record for the longest running Stunt Coordinator at one Studio?

Yes,When I believe in Something then I put my "ALL" into it...this Passion and Love of Life has been my strength, inspiration and determination since I was a Kid.

Springsteen wrote "Born in the USA" Bon Jovi wrote "Living on a Prayer", do you think you are carrying the torch of blue collar NJ rock anthems with "America We Stand as One," and who musically inspires you?

Yes, and the torch is bright!! Monkees, Beatles, Bowie and many of the Artists that had hits from the 1970's era.

How did you acquire your nickname, Dennis "Danger" Madalone?

Robert Conrad ....since He is a Loving and Macho man who admires my Stunt ability, he came up with the name and it's stuck around for many years.

dear max feel free to ask me any more q s / I have a q / whats up in jersey lately / give me some good news. love dennis madalone.

Hey Dennis, NJ is pretty cool..I was just at the Underdog reunion show in Asbury Park. That town is pretty spooky but slowly getting better. An ice cream truck rolled by and I tried to get soft serve, but they only sold packaged ice cream..that's what we call a 'beat scene'. That's about it for NJ right now, I am currently living in Brooklyn but still visit my parents in good ole New Providence pretty frequently. The closest thing i can get to a NJ moment over here is my room mate Tyler telling me how he likes to get high and listen to Bruce Springsteen. I think he may have a problem, what do you think I should do? ok, here are more questions: What was it like to grow up in Plainfield, NJ. I grew up on the other side of route 22 during a different decade and I don't know how it was when you were in High School, but it's pretty sketchy now.

dera max / high school wae great I had alot of fun with my school friends and teacthers.

What was your reaction when you saw the video highlighted on VH1's "Best Week Ever"?

IT WAS UNBELIEVEABLE WHEN I started to get phone calls to turn on vh1/ we wre alll proud that our song was being heard,

According to IMDB you have done stunts in 91 movies. UHF is obviously the one that stands out for me. What was it like to work on that movie, and exactly how weird is Weird Al?

it was fun working with w all he was very kind to everyone.

You did some voices and stuntwork in the 1978 version of Lord Of The Rings, what made you chose to not get involved with the recent remake?

I had no time to work on lord of the ring I was to bizzy working on star trek and without a trace,

(Dennis Madlone on Star Trek)

Some of the stunts you have pulled are pretty wild and you've even set some world records, like the world's biggest motorcycle jump from ramp to ocean at 126 feet. Which ocean did you do this stunt into? What are the next records you are going to break? Do you ever get scared all this stunt work is putting your musical career in question?

i jump my bike into the florida oceans / on the diana shore show. I respest all of the stunts I do / respect takes the place for fear.

From looking at your webpage, it's pretty obvious that you love dogs and have like 10 of them. What's the story behind that? Can you believe that they eat these animals in some countries?!?

the dogs and cats are our four legged kids we love them with alll of our heart.

Speaking of other countries, how do you feel about all these wars we are in and do you hope your music can cross borders to the ones we are at war with or would they just be too jealous of our freedom to "get it"?

I pray for no wars I pray for peace for everyone in the world I hope our song can make a good differtest and bring the world together as one forever let me know what you want and I will send them ps what size t-shirt do you want. love southplainfield nj dennis madalone and my wife and the kidds

Great interview with Dennis! He is truly a guy with a heart of gold and since the first day I spoke with him and after the interview he did for my website I have regarded him as a friend and we usually speak a couple times a month.

There are some people online who have ridiculed my interview with Dennis even calling me a total sap for agreeing with the idealist methods that Dennis subscribes to, but it is people like him who believe in peace and getting through this by prevailing in peace and spreading unconditional good faith, that will still be standing at the end and the people who make fun of him for doing someone like the "America We Stand as One" video will soon realise it is only they who look stupid because Dennis is above their level of contempt.

I truly value Dennis as a friend and hopefully one day if all goes well colleague. Great interview and thanks for the trackback.

-Sebastian.
